PROGRAM MOTTO

Stepping Out!

Matthew 14:24-31
24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea,[a] tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[b] he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

This year as you already know the motto comes from what you guys have turned in to us as a team and this is what we have decided to go with from the direction of the Holy Spirit. This year being a new year in many different ways, we felt this would be best. This year being number 10 for me at Catawba, I feel like its year one as we start new with me being in a paid position now and your Youth Pastor. Starting this year with the motto Stepping Out, we are asking everyone to step out the boat just as Peter did. We know Peter stepped out and didn’t hold on but stepped out full force. We also know that when Peter stepped out he walked on water because he had faith and his focus was fully on Christ. We are asking you as students to step out the boat full force no holding on and to put all your faith and all your focus on Christ. We are asking that your life, your choices, and everything you do and say reflect that you have stepped out the boat. We want to see you as students become a generation that will not hold your faith back, but that your faith is what defines you. We also know that not all students will step out the boat and we are fine with this. Every person that was in the boat with Peter that night could have stepped out with Peter, but Peter was the only one. If we only have one that steps out fully we could do great things just as Peter was the founding member of what we call the church today. Christ can and will use us if we fully surrender to Him and devote our life to Him. Our challenge to you as students is very simple and clear, step out the boat with your life and don’t look back. Live your life fully devoted to Him in ALL that you do and ALL that you say. So here it is, are you going to be willing to fully step out the boat this year and for the rest of your life?
